Hopefully most Internet surfers are aware of how insecure the Internet is. Almost every day we can read news about new security breaches. To keep yourself more secure online, you should use VPN when connecting to the Internet. Other important security options are to use encryption to encrypt your data before you upload and share it. More about encryption in another blog post.
First of all: What is VPN? Here is the definition from Wikipedia:
A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, such as the Internet. It enables a computer or Wi-Fi-enabled device to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if it were directly connected to the private network, while benefiting from the functionality, security and management policies of the private network.
A VPN connection across the Internet is similar to a wide area network (WAN) link between…

Many of you guys are asking for a faster way of transfer data like flash transfer in “Android”. Well I Might not have found a complete solution but I think this will help a bit.
There are other solutions for sending files but none of them are as easy as this one. This app makes your windows phone a sever that hosts data. It even have option to receive files from the other guy. And this App even have a player. from which you can play music and videos directly without needing you download it.
How to Use the app:
- This app requires a Wifi connection or you can host your own Wifi using inbuilt internet sharing.
- WIndows phones doesn’t allow you to on internet sharing if mobile data is off so on the mobile data and the switch it off after switching internet sharing is on.
- Now open easy transfer app. it will display some IP address on the screen
All your friend need to do is connect to the same Wi-Fi/the Wi-Fi that you hosted. and go to the IP address displayed on the screen of easy transfer app using browser and type it in URL box.
Once he opens it. he can see all the files on your phone and can even manipulate the them too like renaming them deleting them and also uploading new files in to your phone. (it the major issue of privacy)
This app also comes with a player for now it only supports .mp4 video files and .mp3 music.
1.just as every app which support SD card, Easy Transfer does not support all file types, it only supports the following types:
(1) system: xap
(2) image: jpg,png,gif,bmp
(3) music: mp3,amr
(6) document: docx, xlsx, pptx, txt, pdf, epub
2.For the file formats which can not support, when upload will automatically add the suffix “.RemoveThisSuffix.mkv”, and you can rename it with file manager.
e.g, a file named”001.xyz”;
when upload ,it be will automatically saved as”001.xyz.RemoveThisSuffix.mkv”,and than you can rename it to”001.xyz” with file manager;
when download, you should rename it to”001.xyz.mkv”,and than download it , rename it to”001.xyz” with the file manager of other devices.
Download it from here.
Conclusion : Its a very simple and very easy to operate app but only problem with it is privacy. there is one other app which allows you to send files but you cant receive them and also it is paid the trail version allows only 1MB files. make sure you check it out. Its name is Wi-Fi sender.

Get the most out of your Lumia with the clever Battery Sense and Data Sense features packed into the heart of your smart phone.
We ’ve all run into data or battery challenges before. The built-in features for tracking data and battery usage will help you avoid these situations and make the most out of your Lumia.
Find out which apps are running in the background with the built-in Battery Saver feature, which lets you conserve your smartphone’s battery between charges. When you turn on Battery Saver, your Lumia automatically turns off some of the features that use battery in the background, such as e-mail and calendar updates, live tiles updates and other apps that are not open.
Additionally, it also tells you which apps are consuming the most power and if you wish to allow them to run in the background.
Turn off non-essential features:
Here’s how you can put to rest the apps that you don’t often use and set conditions on a per-app basis to conserve your Lumia’s battery.
• In the App list, tap Battery Saver.
• Now, swipe over to ‘Usage’ to see a list of your apps and their relative battery consumption.
• Select the app from the list, then turn on ‘Allow app to run in the background’ option or turn it off as per choice.
Next, you can pin Battery to your Start screen and view the status of your battery percentage. This is handy when you quickly need to know how much juice is left in your Lumia!
You can even set different types of alerts (battery charging full, when it is discharging quickly or low status).
Data Sense- Keeping tab on data usage
If you are addicted to your Lumia and have a limited data plan, you might have a problem staying within your limits.. Thanks to Data Sense, you can control data usage successfully.
By offering a detailed breakdown of data usage on your Windows Phone, Data Sense alerts you when you’re nearing your mobile data limit. Pin the Data Sense app to your Start screen to see at a glance your data usage stats so you can avoid extra cost.
Tracking your data usage
Here’s how you can set up Data Sense:
• In the App list, select Data Sense then tap Set limit.
• Under the Limit type option, choose one of the following: Pre-paid for a limited amount of data with an expiry date, Monthly for a limited of data usage each month and Unlimited with no limit on data but for tracking usage.
The trick is to select the data amount closer to your monthly cap so that you can get timely alerts. There you go, I saved 50 MB of data before the expiration of my data connection and didn’t incur any additional costs.
Further, you can conserve data by limiting the amount of background data being sent when you’re nearing your limit, like an email app that regularly fetches new messages.
Under the Data Sense option, select Settings < turn on Restrict background data and you are done.
Additionally, reduce the amount of data when you browse the Web by opting for the ‘Automatic’ option under the Browser data savings.
